Hello Darling.

Welcome to my blog. I’m so glad you’re here.

Hey There Pumpkin

Hey There Pumpkin

It is officially feeling like fall around here, and we have the windows open instead of the air because it’s so chilly! I’d love to be cozy under a blanket while writing this, but I have to tell the truth- Henry is hogging it all. I don’t know who is the bigger sissy me, or him.

See, not kidding. Alright the real reason we are here, our new doormat! Since all things fall are trending everywhere we look, there was an absolutely adorable doormat I came across and it said “Hey There Pumpkin.” Now that I have a husband, I also have a budget (how in the world did this happen to me?!!) When I went to order the original one it was more than I was willing (should) spend for a seasonal item. I decided I could make it myself and thats exactly what I did. I wanted to share this because it was SO easy, SO cute, and affordable.

First step, get your butt to Home Depot. They sell this plain 18 x 30 doormat for $9.97 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Beige-18-in-x-30-in-Coir-and-Vinyl-Door-Mat-20815-1/206188593

I checked to make sure they had them in stock before going! After checking out and making it to my car, I nailed the truck next to me with the doormat as I swung it around to put it in my car. (Sorry person, I had to go, but I did check and there was no mark)

Next step, Michaels to get the rest of the supplies I needed.

Sharpies $4.99

Paint Pens $3.00 each

Tape- found buried in my craft bag (win for the day)

I got right to work when I got home, this project took me less than 20 minutes. I found a tape measure, surprisingly and not the one that fell on my toe the other day (I probably tossed that, just kidding Michael)

I measured for how tall I wanted the words to be, and then marked the middle of the mat. I did two inches from the top of the mat and then two inches for the words. I totally suck at measuring, not really my thing- I usually wing it but I tried and it didn’t go too badly.

To make sure the words for the top weren’t too big I sketched the size on the top of the tape! Then I totally just went for it with high hopes. I used the sharpie to write it out and it showed up really well. Just to be safe I used the paint pen and went over all the letters to give them a darker look. And just like that we had a new doormat!! I can’t wait to get our porch decorated for fall!

I hope this inspires some of you to make a new mat!

While out collecting supplies, I decided to stop in FiveBelow to see if I could find a cute rug for under the mat. I found a striped rug that I loved and brought it home (yes I paid for it) when I opened the rug it was HUGE. I read the tag in the store 3’ x 5’ and I’m not sure why it didn’t hit me that the rug was as long as I am tall. I put that to good use in our bedroom, I’ll be blogging about that next!!

Until next time.

XOXO
