Where do I begin?! Our (well my) house search lasted a very long time. I had been looking for houses long before we were engaged. Now I know why the house pitch wasn't working out for me....there was a ring on the way!! I have been wanting to do a "fixer upper"/renovation for as long as I could remember. Naturally those are the kind of houses I was looking for. Every old farmhouse or house that had weeds growing through the windows was THE ONE for me. Mike on the other hand told me most of the houses I would send him "needed a match" my response, "oh perfect, that's just the kind of place I'm looking for."

We were eating breakfast in McDonalds one morning when I asked him if he had looked at the house I sent, of course, that was another ignored text (huge eye roll). After looking at the listing we left and went straight to the tiny white house we now call home. I was DYING inside (with excitement) because it was such a disaster and to be quite honest, a shit hole. My brain was going crazy with all the ideas I had for this place. Honestly, I thought he was going to say no freakin way, but to my surprise he said this was THE ONE. I tried to keep my excitement under control, inside I was dancing around like a small child.

We called our Realtor, my soon to be brother-in-law. He is okayish, if you ask me. (Ryan I hope you are reading this). We went in for a tour a couple days later and it was just as gross as suspected. I have a weird thing for eagles and feel like they bring me good luck. On the windows in the house were stickers that said eagle security and I knew this had to be it! I remember saying, this is going to be our home. Anyway, we put in an offer for $1,000 less than asking price against my advice that was, just give them asking price so we don't lose it. Well, they didn't take my advice, HUGE shocker there. Long story short this was a HUD Home (Housing and Urban Development), so it was an online auction. Turns out they excepted someone else's offer (probably one that was asking price.) My little fixer upper dreams were shattered. Well, just like that their financing fell through and they gave us a chance to make another offer and we did for ASKING PRICE and imagine that, it was all ours.
